CHANDIGARH, Aug 23: Local MP Satya Pal Jain today told the parents of 12-year-old Pinky, who committed suicide yesterday after she was allegedly beaten up by her teachers, that he would ensure a "proper" inquiry by the Administration into the incident. The deceased was cremated this afternoon. In a press statement issued today, Jain said he had written to the UT Administrator that the incident was a serious matter and needed a thorough probe by an independent and impartial high official. "The Administration should take action against the guilty who compelled her to commit suicide and should also take adequate measures to avoid such unfortunate incidents in future." He also assured the parents of the girl that he would see to it that action was taken against the culprits. Meanwhile, DSP (South) Surjit Singh, when contacted, said the police would question pupils at Government High School, Sector 38, and record statements pertaining to yesterday's incidents. School principal Karam Chand said that he too would hold an inquiry at his own level and write to the Education Department if any of the teachers charged with caning Pinky were found guilty of the charge.
