The tube of plenty
It's been one of the most unexpected weeks in recent history. Certainly, one of the most bizarre weeks for television. From Friday to Friday, we've witnessed many odd, compelling moments; taken together the experience has been unnerving, surreal and sometimes, downright spooky.
Cinema Express awards presented
A spectacular show of laser lights, a glamorous galaxy of film stars and cine artistes and a remarkable audience participation marked the `18th Ujala Cinema Express awards' function held in Chennai on Sunday. Sarathkumar received the Best Actor award for his performance in Suryavamsam, while Meena got the Best Actress award for her roles in Bharathi Kannamma and Porkalam.
World Vignettes
US House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich is seeking a new title -- world champion hand shaker. He shook hands with 3,609 people near Seattle on Saturday to land him in The Guinness Book of World Records under a new category of "most handshakes by a national figure."
