BJP sidesteps Jaya threat
Ignoring the siege within, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday made it clear that it means to stay on in power at the Centre. The national executive of the party called for greater cooperation and coordination among coalition partners. It also indicated that the BJP is preparing a contingency plan in the event of Jayalalitha withdrawing support.

Pending election petitions worry CEC
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) M S Gill has voiced concern over large number of pending election petitions in high courts and the Supreme Court. Such lengthy delays in disposing the cases could encourage candidates to indulge in electoral malpractices with impunity, he said.
