LILLE (FRANCE), Aug 24: World Bridge Federation (WBF) World Master Jaggy Shivdasani pairing with American Connie Goldberg finished 62nd from a field of 260 as Indian pairs fared dismally in the final at the 10th World Bridge Championships here late last night.Other Indians finished way down with Jeroo Mango and B N Parasrampuria (Mumbai) returning 112th, Bimal Sicka/Ratan Lal Kejriwal 130th, Uma Singh/Bomsi Wadia 165th, Bharati Dey and Sunil Macchar 198th (all from Mumbai), Rita Choksi (Del)/Deepak Poddar (Mum) 213th, Kiran Nadar/B Satyanarayan (Del) 253rd, Hemani/Rajiv Khandelwal (Nagpur) 254th.Italy's 56-year-old WBF Life Master Antonio Vivaldi playing with Enzo Rossano lifted the JM Weston Mixed Pairs Trophy and the gold medal scoring 64.07 per cent in the final.
Vivaldi and Rossano, who had topped the qualifying round on Saturday, scored a hefty 65.28 per cent in the second session to narrowly clinch the trophy.
France's 57-year-old WBF World Master Claude Blouquit and Marc Bompis made a tremendousrally scoring 68.64 per cent in the second session, but had to be content with the silver medal with an average of 63.96 in the two-session final.
The team championships for the Rosenblum Cup (open) and the MC Connel Cup (women) gets underway today.
