NEW DELHI, August 24: Two cops were reportedly knocked down by an unknown speeding vehicle and robbed of their revolver near the Moti Bagh area of south-west district around 8.45 p.m. yesterday. While Head Constable Kamruddin is in a critical condition, Constable Manoj is reportedly recovering.Though the injuries sustained by the policemen are not the kind to have been caused when hit by a speeding vehicle, the police are not disclosing whether the assailants opened fire or stabbed the cops.
DCP (south-west) P.K. Bharadwaj said: ``We are not sure whether the injuries have been caused by the cops being hit by a speeding vehicle. According to Constable Manoj's statement, the duo were hit by a vehicle. But doctors claim that the nature of injuries do not suggest the same. So we are taking a second opinion. We are also consulting Forensic scientists.''
This has made the case complicated and has raised several questions about the incident. While HC Kamruddin has undergone brain surgery and is unfit for statement now, Manoj who is in a better state has maintained his statement.
