CALCUTTA, AUG 25: The West Bengal government today described its talks with the Maharashtra administration on deportation of infiltrators as `successful', ending the stand-off between the two states over the issue.Briefing mediapersons on the deliberations of the chief secretary-level talks held yesterday in Delhi at the instance of Union Home Secretary B P Singh, West Bengal Home (police) Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee said agreements were reached on all four points raised at the meeting.
Bhattacharjee said the Maharashtra government had agreed to West Bengal's suggestion of giving intimation of any further deportation of infiltrators through the state.
The West Bengal government too would direct district magistrates on identification and verification of persons to be sent by Maharashtra on the basis of a list.
He said the state government would keep in touch with both the Centre and Maharashtra before such deportation took place.
The Centre had accepted the state's demand for increasing BSF strength along the West Bengal-Bangladesh border, the minister said.
The state government had alleged that BSF strength along the state's international border was going down.
