CHANDIGARH, Sept 1: Student activists today held a rally at the Punjab University campus demanding an inquiry into the recent shooting incident that took place in the university campus involving former student union leader, Kuljit Singh Nagra.Activists of the National Student Union of India, Panjab University Students Union (PUSU), Haryana Students Union (HSA) and the Jat Students Union (JSU) alleged that the FIR was fabricated and that the university should intervene in the issue. In a separate press statement, state vice-president of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Arun Sood also demanded an inquiry into the issue.
Later, in a memorandum to the university, H S Lucky, president, Chandigarh unit of NSUI, Binder Singh, president, PUSU and Ashwini Kaushal, president, JSU demanded that the names of innocent students should be withdrawn from the FIR, and that action should be taken against those who had falsely implicated innocent students and misled the police. They also demanded the lodging of an FIR against the "actual aggressors" in the shooting incident.
