THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT 2: Fouziya Hassan and Mariam Rasheeda, who were the first and second accused in ISRO spy case, have demanded compensation of Rs 10 crore from Chief Minister E K Nayanar, Chief Secretary M Mohankumar, former DGP C A Chali and nine others for ``malicious prosecution, defamation, illegal detention and inhuman torture.''In two separate legal notices, issued through their lawyer, Prasad Gandhi, the Maldivian women, who were granted freedom by the Supreme Court from prolonged prison term as undertrials and later as detainees under National Security Act, demanded Rs 5 crore each from the opposite parties within 60 days.
The opposite parties would be proceeded against separately if they failed to give compensation within the period, said the notice.
The other persons against whom the Maladivian women issued claims were circle inspector S Vijayan, SI Thampi S Durgadut, IG Siby Mathews, DySP Joshua, State of Kerala represented by chief secretary, the director of Intelligence Bureau,director of CBI, R S Dhankar, DySP of CBI in Delhi and Government of India, represented by Home Secretary.
They alleged that police officers Vijayan, Thampi, Siby Mathews and Joshua suppressed material facts from higher authorities as well as before the courts and illegally detained and tortured them. Nayanar was accused of having reaped political mileage from their arrest and detention. He was also charged with coercing his Cabinet colleagues for taking the decision to arrest the women under National Security Act.
