HYDERABAD, SEPT 3: Former Union Home Minister and senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Indrajit Gupta has been chosen for the `Outstanding Social Scientist Award' instituted by the Ravi Narayana Reddy Memorial National Foundation. Gupta was selected for the award for being the best Parliamentarian.The award selection committee comprising foundation president Ch Rajeswara Rao, secretary Ravi Bharati, well known historian B N Shastri, Planning Commission former member Ch Hanumantha Rao and freedom fighter A Guruva Reddy also considered Gupta's contribution as chairman of parliamentary committee on electoral reforms.
This is the sixth award being given in the memory of Ravi Narayana Reddy who fought against the Nizam.
The award carrying a citation and memento would be presented to Gupta at a function to be held in the city on September 6, Rajeswara Rao said at a press conference here today.
