Salwan Boys enter semis
Hosts Salwan Boys School entered the semifinal of the Pepsi salwan Volleyball Tournament when they beat Hill Grove Public School in four games. Salwan Boys won 15-12, 15-12, 7-12, 14-11.

The match was a well-contested one with both the hosts and Hill Grove boys pressing hard to keep the pressure on the other. After struggling for a while, the Salwan boys came into rhythm and managed totake the first two games. The Hill Grove boys, however, came back strongly in the third and outsmarted their rivals. But they lost midway in the decider which Salwan boys took easily to book their semi-final berth.

In other quarter-finals, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya defeated Raj Rifles School 15-0, 15-3, 15-5; Apex Public School downed Bal Bharati School 15-5, 15-3, 15-9; NDRM defeated ASN (Mayur Vihar) 15-3, 15-8, 15-12.

Modern win
Last year's losing finalists Modern School (Barakhamba Road) defeated Oxford School (Vikaspuri) 45-35 while Bharat National School downed St Michael School 56-36 in the boys section of 38th Royal Club Basketball Tournament. In men's section, CISF defated Pragati Club 83-40 in pool `A'. CISF hoopsters proved far superior to Pragati Club cagers who struggled to keep CISF down.

Brief Scores: Modern: 45 (Sidharth 16, Gaurav 12, Kapil 8). Oxford: 35 (Pankaj 10, Gaurav 9, Nitin 6). Bharat National: 56 (Sanjay 12, Mannder 10, Rajeev 16, Pankaj 12). St Michael: 36 (Davesh 18, Manav 8, Aseem 3, Umang 3). CISF: 83 (Hari Babu 24, Vinay 12). Pragati Club: 40 (Nitin Jagota 14, Lalit 11).

Dalbir excels
Fine batting by Dalbir Rathi (52) and fine bowling by Mohinder (5 for 19) helped RK Puram Cricket Coaching Centre beat Young Boys by six wickets in the fourth round of Independence Cup.

Young Boys: 96 (Mohinder 5 for 19, Kapil Malik 3 for 10) lost to RKPC: 100 for 4 (Dalbir Rathi 52) by six wickets.
