Missiles tested
CHANDIPUR-ON-SEA: The short range surface-to-air missiles, Trishul and Akash, were test fired from the interim test range on Saturday. Official sources said that Akash was test-fired first at 1410 hours while Trishul at 1507 hours. Before the launching of the two indigenously-developed missiles, a breakthrough of the Defence Research andDevelopment Organisation, the pilotless training aircraft, Nishant, was also test flown at about 1245 hours.

Mother sainthood
CALCUTTA: The Vatican has simplified the process for granting sainthood to Mother Teresa, but the Missionaries of Charity said it would not press for the process to be expedited on her first death anniversary on Saturday.

Triple suicide
MUMBAI: Three bodies were recovered from the Kalapli guest house, Kotali Marg, this afternoon. Preliminary investigations by the M R A Marg police station termed the death as suicide.

The investigations suggest that M Shrinivas (30), his wife, who is not named (28) and their five-month old daughter consumed poison. Their bodies, which were found by the guest house cleaner at 11 am, were bleached, suggesting consumption of toxic material.

Burton confession
WASHINGTON: United States Republican Congressman Dan Burton, known for his anti-India views and as a critic of US President Bill Clinton, has admitted thathe had an extra-marital relationship and a son by the woman in the early 1980s, according to a report in The Indianapolis Star. The daily did not identify the woman or her son.
