More helps Somaiya tame Jhunjhunwala

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, Sept 5: Captain and junior national Sachin More weighed in with three successive baskets off fast breaks to propel Somaiya Arts to a 55-47 win over holders Jhunjhunwala in the zonal final of the District Sports Council Multigames inter-school basketball suburban tournament conducted at Fatima High School, Vidyavihar this morning. Somaiya will meet Andrew's in the suburbs final on Sunday.

Till midway into the second half, Jhunjhunwala, largely due to junior national Shailesh Saldanha's efforts, stayed abreast of the victors. But the Somaiya onslaught took its toll. The holders were breathing harder, failed to fall back, and exposed huge gaps in defence. Sachin stepped up the tempo, made steals and gradually widened the margin. He found support in Ralph Gomes (14), Nilesh Jadhav (14) and Mark Fernandes ( 3-pointers).
