MUMBAI, Sept 5: Deepali Anvekar scored a resounding 9-4, 9-0, 9-1 victory over international Rhea Bhandare in the girls Under-19 final of the Steelmade Furniture inter-school and junior college squash tournament at the Otters Club, Bandra, today.Deepali had then prevailed in five games but could not make the trip. Rhea went instead. Today, Deepali left no doubt as to who was the better player. She began tentatively and was down 0-4 but held complete sway thereafter by making Rhea scamper around the court in vain with a mixture of hard drives and subtle variation of pace and length.
Partha Doshi proved a little too good for Abhijit Kukreja in the boys under-19 final that was also awaited with interest. Siddharth Suchde duly won the under-14 title but could not match Junaid Nathani in the under-16 final.
