AMRITSAR, Sept 5: The Bharatiya Janata Party president Kushabhau Thakre today ruled out dismissal of the Rabri Devi government in Bihar saying the right lay with the people to change a government.Claiming that the law and order situation in Bihar was ``explosive'', he, however, told reporters that the Vajpayee government would not impose President's rule in the State or demand removal of the government.
The BJP-led government will not impose Article 356 on any state as it was the right of the people to change the government, Thakre said.
Thakre categorically stated that the BJP would not project any candidate as the chief minister candidate in states where Assembly elections are due to be held later this year.
He said it had never been the policy of BJP to make pre-poll projection of candidates as chief ministers. Disagreeing that Vajpayee had been projected as the prime ministerial candidate prior to the last Lok Sabha polls, he said that his name came to the fore as he was found be the mostacceptable by poll alliance partners.
``It has been the policy of the party to allow elected representatives of the people decide their leaders,'' he added.
Referring to the statement of Congress president Sonia Gandhi that BJP had ``failed'' on all fronts, the BJP president remarked ``We don't have to get certificate from her, people's verdict has much more importance.''
Asked about speculations on the change of BJP leadership in Rajasthan, Thakre said the party high command had no plans to replace Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
``He (Shekhawat) was not imposed by Delhi. It is to be left to the people of the state to keep him or remove him in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections, but the party would not replace him,'' he said.
Referring to the overall political scenario in the country, BJP chief said the situation was returning to normal in north-eastern states while Kashmir was already on path of recovery.
The situation in Kashmir could not be controlled earlier as the terrorists werehelped by the locals but now the situation has changed and people have started helping the authorities.
``Common man has suffered in Jammu and Kashmir... but the situation will be normal very soon,'' he said.
Asked about price rise, he said it was a matter of concern.
