Forex go up by $ 530 m

MUMBAI: India's foreign currency assets (FCA) have gone up by $ 530 million during the week ending August 28, taking the total foreign exchange reserves to & 27,505 million. According to the Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical supplement, the (FCA) stood at $ 24,460 million as on August 28. There was no change in the gold assets and SDRS which stood at $ 3,031 million and $ 14 million respectively.

Trafalgar becomes Kvaerner

MUMBAI: Kvaerner Cementation India Ltd is the new name for Trafalgar House Construction India Ltd effective September 1,1998. This change follows the acquisition of Trafalgar House plc by Kvaerner ASA of Norway in 1996. Today Kvaerner is one of the largest construction, engineering and ship building companies in the world, registered in Norway with its international headquarters in London and with a revenue exceeding Rs 40,000 crore.

Corporation Bank book released

MUMBAI: Corporation Bank has brought out its history book`Corporation Bank - A Corporate Journey' authored by M V Kamath. Starting with the birth and evolution of the Bank in Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka, the author has vividly narrated the development and growth of the Bank all through the years.

One Hour Photo launched

MUMBAI: One Hour Photo, Mumbai's leading chain of photo labs, has now introduced a super new service. For the first time a free pick up and delivery service for developing & printing of film rolls. This service is also available for a full range of services from colour enlargements to film roll sales etc.

DGP Windsor sales rise 18 pc

MUMBAI: DGP Windsor India Ltd has announced an excellent performance for the year ended June 1998. The company's turnover has grown to Rs 142 crore, thus showing a growth of 18% over the previous year. The company has shown a remarkable turnaround and had declared a net profit of Rs 2.42 crore as compared to a loss of Rs 2.92 crore the previous year. It has also proposed 10 per centdividend.

Sehgal elected as AAAI president

MUMBAI: Ram Sehgal, president of Contract Advertising has been declared re-elected unopposed as President of the Advertising Agencies Association of India for the year 1998-99. This will be Sehgal's second year running as AAAI President. Rajiv Agarwal of Enterprise Nexus, is the Vice-President.

Printing awards
MUMBAI:
All India Federation of Master Printers, the apex body of the printing industry has announced national awards for excellence in printing to commemorate 50 years of India's independence.

The awards have been reintroduced by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry after a gap of 14 years. They were instituted by the Government in 1950, but discontinued from 1984. The awards are likely to be announced in January, the All Indian Federation of Master Printers said. The competition would be open to all printers and organisations involved in creation or production of print communication including newspapers.

The awards would bepresented in 45 different categories including letter press, offset, screen printing, flexography and gravure metal printing. The last date for receiving entries is September 30th.

Meanwhile, the Bombay Master Printer's Association has hosted an exhibition and seminar on the printing industry, ancillary and allied products. The exhibition, Printvision 98, is being hosted at Nehru Centre from September 4th to September 6.

Indian Rayon
MUMBAI:
Indian Rayon & Industries Limited, an Aditya Birla group company, has announced the successful commissioning of its greenfield 35000 MTPA Carbon Black Plant at Gummidipondi near Chennai. This plant with state-of-the-art technology has been set up with an investment of Rs 135 crore. Its carbon black plants have higher operating margins in the industry and the new plant will further add to its operating profits. Plans are afoot to establish a 21st century R&D centre where research will be focus on "bringing in innovation/developing newproducts".

Engelhard
MUMBAI:
Engelhard Environmental Systems (India) Ltd , a joint venture between Engelhard Corporation and Chennai-based UCAL Fuel Systems, began production at India's first auto-emission catalyst plant at Maramalal Nagar, near Chennai. The plant will initially focus on manufacturing emission-reducing catalysts for light passenger cars. The facility will also produce emission catalysts for motorcycles, scooters and mopeds.

Today's Writing Products will launch the Zotter range of pens and bring economy to the high priced segment, Rajesh Drolia, the firm's promoter said.
