MUMBAI, Sept 5: Thomas Menamparamil, the archbishop of Guwahati has been selected for the prestigious Father Aurelius Machio Humanitarian Award for his selfless work for the poor in Assam and North Eastern parts of the country.The Rs 1 lakh award instituted by the Father Machio Memorial Foundation will be presented to Menamparamil at the Don Bosco school, Matunga, on September 9, according to Father Joseph Casti of the Bombay Salesian Society (Salesians of Don Bosco).
Set up in 1997, the Father Machio Memorial Foundation has embarked upon six major projects - the Nowhere Child and Lifeline for the Child among others.
