Congress divided on forming Government
The Congress leadership was on Saturday divided on forming an alternative government at the Centre with the support of the "unreliable'' Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the event of the fall of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition. However, it kept options open on electoral alliances with regional parties like the AIADMK without conditions.

CPI meet to discuss plans for a new, improved United Front
After a gap of 45 years, the CPI will hold its six-day national conference in Chennai from September 14 with over 1,200 delegates from India and abroad participating in it. Delegations from China, Vietnam, Cuba, North Korea, Japan, Italy, France and Nepal will participate in the national meet, held once in three years to prepare a document on the current political situation in the country.

Cauvery accord a fraud: AIADMK leader
The recent Cauvery accord and Authority are a big fraud on the people of Tamil Nadu, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party presidium Chairman V R Nedunchezhiyan said on Saturday. The accord between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala is an ``eyewash'', the former AIADMK finance minister said.
