CHANDIGARH, Sept 7: Accused in former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh's assassination case, Navjot Singh, in an application submitted before UT District and Sessions Judge B S Bedi has sought directions to the authorities for returning the articles allegedly taken into possession during raids at his residence.Navjot Singh has stated that cash and jewellery, including pay orders of Rs 40,000 and a purse containing Rs 15,000, besides a camera and a transistor, were taken into possession by the CBI, Punjab Police and the Chandigarh Police during the raid on September 17, 1995.
Taking up the application, the Sessions Judge has supplied copies to the CBI for filing a reply.
Meanwhile, the cross examination of Madanjit Singh Chinna concluded today with the witness denying the defence counsel's suggestion regarding his undergoing treatment for de-addiction.
He also denied the allegation regarding his elder sister being married in a family related to the former Punjab chief minister. A senior assistant with the Punjab and Haryana High Court's coordination branch, Chinna's deposition assumes significance, as according to the prosecution, accused Lakhwinder Singh was introduced to Sector 7 painter through him.
