Amba cremated

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Sept 7: A large number of judges, lawyers, relatives and friends attended the "Uthala" ceremony of Suresh Amba, a practising lawyer of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who died here on Saturday. Among those present included the Chief Justice of India, Justice M M Punchhi, who was a friend of Amba.

As a mark of respect to their colleague, lawyers of the high court also abstained from attending the court in the post-lunch session, following a call by the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association.

The high court bar association also gave a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to the wife of the deceased, out of the bar's benevolent fund of which Amba was a member. The cheque was presented to Amba's wife by the bar president, G C Dhuriwala.
