KAPURTHALA, Sept 7: Kapurthala Rail Coach Factory won the All India Railway Mild Session Golf championship held at Ooty from August 30 to September 1.

RCF won the trophy consecutively for the fourth year by securing 506 points.

they were followed by Southern Railway, Chennai with 545 points.

RCF's Hardev Singh was declared the second best golfer of the championship.

Sports promotion
Moga: Punjab would get a major share of the sum of Rs 100 crores, allotted by the Union Sports Ministry, for the promotion of sports in the country, according to Sukhbir Singh Badal, Union Minister of State for Industries.

Presiding over a sports function in Jhandian village near here, Badal further informed about a number of sports projects in the state. He said that a Rs 25 crore sports complex for indoor and outdoor sports would be built at S A S Nagar while an international standard synthetic track would be laid at the cost of Rs six crores in Jalandhar.

Basketball meet
Mandi: The 14th All India Telecommunication Basketball Championship will be held at Mandi from September 21 to 25. The Himachal Pradesh Telecommunication Department will a conduct coaching camp for its team at Shimla from September 10 to 20.

Sports authority
Nawanshahar: A sports authority would soon be set up in Punjab, to oversee the promotion of sports in the state, according to Sarwan Singh, state Welfare Minister.

The authority, consisting of eminent former sports persons of the state, would evolve a programme under which an effort would be made to encourage students from taking up sports from a small age.

The minister also said that each block in the state would have a stadium of its own.

HP cricket Chamba: The Himachal Pradesh-Punjab North Zone Ranji Trophy league match will be played at Mandi's Paddal Ground from October 22 to 25 (One dayer on 21st). HP will also play host to Haryana at Una from October 29 to November 1 (one dayer on October 28).

The HP Cricket Association also declared its Inter-District cricket calender for the season. The Senior Inter-District cricket championship will begin from September 20 in four different zones. The final will be held at Una from October 4 to 6. The trials to select the state Ranji squad would be held at Una on October 7.

Nahan and Solan will play host to the under 19 Inter-District championship, beginning from October 10.

The final would be played on October 19 and 20 at Nahan. The state Cooch Behar (u-19) team would be selected after trials at Nahan on October 21. The under 16 Inter-District championship will be held at Chamba and Una from October 22.

The final would be held at Chamba on November 1 and 2 while the state team would be selected after trials on November 3.
