Man killed over dispute
A kite trader was murdered in Jamalpur area by four brothers. The murder was a result of a petty dispute over demanding money for damaging a vehicle. Gaekwad Haveli police said that 24-year-old Harun Izaz Khan Pathan of Jamalpur area, was attacked at around 9.30 p.m. near Raj Patang House by Shabbir Ramjani, Jamil, Kadar and Jafar, all living in the same locality. Police said that Harun and the assailants shared their godown in the same building on the ground and first floors respectively. On Saturday, a bundle of kite fell on the motorcycle of Riaz, brother of Harun causing minor damage to the vehicle. When Harun pressed the four to pay Rs 150 for the damage, they attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. Harun was stabbed repeatedly till he died on the spot. Police are searching the four who absconded after the crime.

Mishap death
A tanker cleaner was killed when the driver of the vehicle crushed him while taking a reverse turn at Rohan Dychem Factory in GIDC Phase I. Vatva GIDC police said that cleaner Prakash Nagji Mena was lying down near the truck when the driver Sumer Singh Rajpoot of Bankoda village in Rajasthan, reversed the vehicle while negotiating a turn. Sumer could not see the cleaner and thus crushed him under the rear wheel, police said. A case has been registered against the driver, police added.

Two nabbed
Vatva police have arrested two autorickshaw drivers in connection with the murder of a youth in Isanpur area on last Thursday. Police said the accused Babu Maganbhai Makwana of Isanpur and his friend Shiva alias Kishore alias Tidi Arjun Johri Koshti had attacked the deceased Ramchandra Jummamal Sindhi with a knife under the influence of alcohol on Thursday night. Mother of the deceased Kamlaben had lodged a complaint that her son Ramchandra was an alcoholic and had a quarrel with some persons. Police later investigated that Ramchandra, along with his friend Raju Patel, consumed alcohol in the company of the two rickshaw drivers. While returning home, Ramchandra got engaged in an altercation with Shiva over a knife. Irked with repeated queries, Shiva attacked Ramchandra and fled the scene. Ramchandra later died due to excessive bleeding from injury. Police have arrested the accused and recovered the knife.

Liquor seized
The city police have arrested 21 persons from different places on Sunday under provisions of the Prohibition Act and recovered 251 litres of country-made and five bottles of foreign brand illicit liquor from them. A jeep and an autorickshaw were also impounded by the police.
