18 cases of skin infection reported

AHMEDABAD, Sept 7: About 18 cases of skin infections due to pollution were reported from 20 chawl in Danilimda due to the polluted water discharged by factories in the area, claimed Congress corporator Badruddin Shaikh today.

Shaikh alleged that municipal commissioner B K Sinha had asked officials to snap the illegal sewerage connections of such industries, but nothing had been done so far. He said that for the past one week the corporation's sewerage lines had remained chocked which finally forced civic staff to take action.

The staff for the past one week trying to clear the lines but had not succeeded.

Besides, the corporators said several complaints were made to get these factories closed but nothing had been done so far. He identified some of the victims as Abdul Kachhi, Sultan Yunus, Hamida Husain, Arbaz Nasir, Ayub Yunus, Yasim Istekhar, Raisabanu Kachh and Gulsafa Iqbalhussain.
