Disqualification of D'Souza quashed
The Panaji Bench of Bombay High Court has paved the way for the Wilfred D'Souza government's vote of confidence today. The court has quashed Speaker Tomazinho Cardozo's order disqualifying the chief minister and nine other legislators from the membership of the Goa Assembly.
HC refuses to issue notices to Sushma, Naqvi on Gill's plea
The Delhi High Court has refused to issue show cause notices to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi asking ousted Prasar Bharati chief executive officer S S Gill to satisfy the court whether an ordinance issued by the President could be challenged on the grounds of "malafide intention'' of the ministers.
Govt questions huge expenses of Bhopal hospital trustee
The functioning of the Bhopal Hospital Trust, set up on direction of the Supreme Court with the sale of shares of Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) in 1994, is mired in controversy. The Union Government has joined social activist groups in questioning huge expenses incurred by the sole trustee of the hospital, England's former Solicitor General, Ian Percival.
