New Delhi, Sept 8: The file pertaining to grant of sanction for prosecution of former telecom minister Sukh Ram was approved by the then prime minister H D Deve Gowda, home ministry joint secretary V K Malhotra informed a Delhi court today.The note of cabinet secretariat dated February 25, 1997 was actually approved by the then PM before signature of the President on March 3 1997, Malhotra told special judge Ajit Bharihoke while deposing as prosecution witness in the telecom scam case.
He said the file was sent to the then home minister Inderjit Gupta for approval after the then President S D Sharma accorded sanction, but the same was yet to be authenticated.
