NGO confirms mass slaughter of Olive Ridleys in Orissa
More than 50,000 sea turtles were found dead in the Orissa coast in the last two years, according to a video survey conducted by Project Swarajya, a non-governmental organisation, during two turtle season of 1996-97 and 1997-98. The report blamed the state government for its failure to check excessive illegal fishing near five major rookeries of the state.
