DAV Hoshiarpur's Aseem Parmar, who gave his team a flying start, improved upon his own meet mark of 2:21.25 in the 200 metres freestyle event. He clocked 2:20.47 to win the gold. Madhav Sund of Govt College, Ludhiana took the silver with a time of 2:23.22 while Aseem's team mate Anwar Masih got the bronze in 2:26.62.

However, Madhav Sund powered his way to gold in the 100 metres backstroke event and establish new meet record with a time of 1:11.18. The previous record of 1:14.87, set last year was in the name of Rahul Kalia of Government College, Ludhiana. He also came inside the record but his time of 1:14.18 fetched him silver. Sudhir Kumar of DAV-10, Chandigarh, who took the bronze also broke the old mark clocking 1:14.36.

Third record of the day fell in the 4 X 100 metres freestyle men's relay when Chandigarh's DAV College team comprising of Dinesh Dahiya, Naveen, Sudhir and Tarun Negi broke the old meet mark by a wafer thin margin. The team clocked 4:35.47 (4:35.60 old record).

Second place went to DAV Hoshiarpur with a time of 4:43.74. More than a minute behind came in Govt College Hoshiarpur team (5:49.31) to win the third spot.

In the women's section, last year's champion, Government College for Women, Ludhiana bagged most of the gold medals at stake.

GCW's Bindia Sareen pocketed five golds including four individual while her team mate Abhipsha got four silver and two gold medal including 4 X 100 metres medley relay.

In the water polo, Government College, Hoshiarpur thrashed Government College, Ludhiana 15-5 to assert their supremacy in the meet and moved into the next round.

Earlier, in the league stage, Govt College, Hoshiarpur defeated Punjab University Campus 11-7.

In another league match, DAV Hoshiarpur gave a crushing blow to title holders DAV-10, Chandigarh 14-1.
