Har Prasad, one of the accused, escaped first and organised a daring rescue of the prime accused, Nehna, when he was in transit between the prison and Ferozepur Zhirca in a Haryana Roadways bus.

Mohammad Yosuf, the father of the dead man, sees the escape of two of the accused as a tremendous setback to his efforts to bring the culprits to book. He also said that with the main accused at large, his family count be the target of reprisal attacks.

Abdul Rahim was shot dead during a hold-up by a group of armed men a year ago. The police arrested Nehna, Har Parsad, Sehra and Jagbir on the charge of murdering Rahim. The dead man's family suspects that at least three other persons were involved in the killing.

Yosuf has involved a voluntary organisation called Crime Eradication Cell in his search for justice. His complaint to the Prime Minister's Office has been forwarded to the Haryana DGP by N.P. Rustagi, deputy secretary in the PMO, seeking an ATR in the Abdul Rahim murder case.
