Italian bags top award at Venice film festival
Italian movie director Gianni Amelio won this year's top Venice film festival prize, marking the first award of the Golden Lion to a competitor from the host country in a decade. The award was for his film ``Cosi Ridevano'' (That's how they laughed).

Fun with funerals: Germans want a happy end
At first glance it looks like a traditional Teutonic funeral, with black-clad mourners congregated round the casket.
