RPF arrests impostor in Goa

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, SEPT 16: Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials arrested an impostor masquerading as a police officer in Goa last week.

According to RPF officials, Punit Tripathi introduced himself as a sub-inspector of police at Agra Fort and requested the inspector in charge of the station to arrange for his stay in Goa as well as his journey to Mumbai.

Tripathy produced a copy of a complaint which he had lodged at Mumbai Central Railway station stating that he had lost his identity card and duty card.

However, he was caught by RPF officials, who cross-examined him and later handed him over to the Vasco police. The accused has impersonated police and RPF personnel in various parts of the country using aliases like Amar Kumar and Amit Mishra.
