Hegde unveils sops to boost exports
Union commerce minister Ramakrishna Hegde has announced a fresh package of incentives to boost exports in the context of a world environment which is not conducive to export growth. The package ranges from duty-free imports for electronic hardware inputs for hardware exporters to extending the period for defaulting firms to meet their export obligations.
Rs 11,600-crore plan fund for Maharashtra
The Planning Commission has approved an outlay of Rs 11,600 cr as Maharashtra's annual plan for 1998-99 as against an outlay of Rs 8393 cr in 1997-98. Thrust areas for the annual plan include higher agro-production, increasing irrigation potential and more jobs.
