The other side of Mr Hyde: Senator probing Clinton is an adulterer
The chairman of a judiciary committee considering impeachment proceedings against President Clinton himself confessed to an adulterous affair in his youth as America's rollercoaster ride with sex, lies and politics continued unabated. Henry Hyde, a crusty Republican who heads the House Judiciary Committee that is set to roast Clinton, was flushed out into the open after the Internet magazine Salon published a picture and accounts of his youthful indiscretions.

No BJP-DMK deal yet: Jaya
AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha has sought to play down the possibilities of a new relationship between BJP and DMK and said that there was no manifestation of an open tie-up between them. She, however, said that if such a question arose, her party would look into the matter.

India to comply with WTO on product patents
India will comply with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) obligations for disputes on patent protection for pharmaceutical and agricultural products. The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal to this effect. The Indian ambassador and permanent representative to the WTO is being advised to inform the dispute settlement body of WTO, meeting on September 22 that India would comply with its obligations as per the ruling of the panel as it has already made such a commitment in its earlier dispute with the US.

Surat submerged by floods, IAF rushes to the rescue
Two platoons of the Indian Air Force were rushed to Surat on Thursday as more than 80 per cent of the city was submerged under the impact of floods. Further damage, however, has been ruled out with water levels beginning to recede since late on Thursday evening.
