The other side of Mr Hyde: Senator probing Clinton is an adulterer
The chairman of a judiciary committee considering impeachment proceedings against President Clinton himself confessed to an adulterous affair in his youth as America's rollercoaster ride with sex, lies and politics continued unabated. Henry Hyde, a crusty Republican who heads the House Judiciary Committee that is set to roast Clinton, was flushed out into the open after the Internet magazine Salon published a picture and accounts of his youthful indiscretions.

Government will be in place by next week, says Yeltsin
Another week will probably be needed to complete formation of the new Russian government, according to President Boris Yeltsin. Since the confirmation of Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov last Friday, one first deputy prime minister, three deputy prime ministers, foreign minister and federal border service chief have been named.

No more cooperation, Iraq tells UN
The Iraqi leadership on Thursday broke off all cooperation with UN arms experts and called on the Security Council to cancel a resolution scrapping all reviews of the eight-year sanctions. The decision follows a recommendation by Iraq's parliament on Monday for a total break in relations with the UN Special Commission (UNSCOM) for disarmament unless the two-monthly sanction reviews are restored.
