NEW DELHI, SEPT 18: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today expressed concern over certain judicial pronouncements saying sometimes the judiciary crossed its ``limits'' causing problems for the executive.``Judiciary in India is independent and doing a good job but sometimes judgements were being delivered which cross their limits and cause problems for the executive,'' he said launching a fund collection drive for a national reconstruction project to coincide with the birth anniversary of late Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder.
Vajpayee's remarks on judiciary assume significance in the wake of the six-month old coalition government at the Centre coming under adverse criticism from Supreme Court in cases relating to the transfer of M K Bezbaruah and the Central Vigilance Commission ordinance.
The Prime Minister said there was a need to inculcate patriotism in the people which seems to have declined. Quoting an incident from Deen Dayal's life when he wanted to pay the difference inrailway fare having briefly travelled in upper class, Vajpayee said, nowadays people consider it a matter of pride to travel ticketless in trains.
He said it was essential in the prevailing conditions to follow the precept of integral humanism propounded by Deen Dayal who lived up to the principles laid down by him.
The Prime Minister said Deen Dayal's integral humanism meant development of both body and mind and this seemed to be lacking in the present day world and if attention was not paid to this, society would further get divided.
Complimenting voluntary organisations like the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for its role in development of the country, he said it was institutions like this which could contribute towards the development of the country.
He said government alone cannot carry on development works but that voluntary organisations too had an important role to play. Vajpayee recalled his association with Deen Dayal and how through his hard work Deen Dayal had set an example forothers.
