Patel differs sharply from party members on Bihar
Karnataka Chief Minister and senior Janata Dal leader J H Patel opposed the use of Article 356 in Bihar. Patel's opinion on the Bihar issue deviates sharply from that expressed by a large section of his own party members.

Thackeray `fires' Mulayam for Pakistan rescuing act
Mulayam Singh Yadav's demand that India give Pakistan Rs 2,000 crore to tackle poverty in that country has drawn severe flak from various political parties. However, the most vitriolic criticism came from Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, who said that if Yadav continues with such anti-national demands, nationalist citizens will not hesitate to set such politicians ablaze.

Advani resignation urged to facilitate Babri probe
The Communist Party of India (CPI) demanded the resignation of the Union Home Minister L K Advani as the Babri Masjid demolition case, in which he was charge-sheeted, is scheduled to come up for hearing soon in Allahabad High Court.
