More rain for China
BEIJING:
Flood-struck China is bracing for more rain as the typhoon season gets underway with a strong storm hitting the eastern city of Shanghai, the Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday.The sixth typhoon of the year is likely to cause strong winds, heavy rain, high sea tides and severe floods.

Swedish polls
STOCKHOLM:
Sweden's 6.6 million voters prepared to go to the polls on Sunday as final opinion polls predicted that Prime Minister Goeran Persson's Social Democrats would narrowly win the re-election. Polls indicated that no party has enough support to win a majority.

Philippines toll
SAN FERNANDO:
A tropical storm flooded more than 500 villages in Philippines main northern island of Luzon, killing at least 21 people and forcing the evacuation of thousands, officials said today.
