Site Insight
Sour notesProtection of music copyright is tough job anywhere in the world. But this task has become more difficult with the spread of the Internet. Using and copying music without legal permission has become easy to do and difficult to police. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has launched a campaign against music piracy on the Internet. The RIAA's site at www.soundbyting.com explains what it is all about. RIAA says that while for some people, music is big business, there are a lot of small performers and musicians who find it tough to survive and protect their interests. The site takes the reader through a bunch of pages outlining the legal situation and the protection provided. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
