DAV defeat Ramjas
Master Prithvi Nath Club overcame a fighting Pragati Club 69-63 after leading 32-28 at half-time in the men's section matches of the Captain's Basketball Tournament. Chek scored 24, ARun 16 and Anuj contributed with 11 for the winners while Nitin (19) and Sachin (17) scored for the losers. In the college boys' section, DAV thrashed Ramjas 60-47 with Sumit scoring 13 and Jaswinder 12 for DAV. Dhirendra (17) and Rahul (13) scored for Ramjas.

Tara's knock in vain
Hitesh Tara's brilliant 60 runs which included four boundaries and one six, for Modern School (V. Vihar) went in vain as Sarvodaya Vidyalaya (Lajpat Nagar) defeated them by 10 wickets in the Radha Kishan Memorial cricket tournament. Inviting Modern School to bat after winning the toss, Sarvodaya School restricted them to 132 in 23.3 overs after some brilliant bowling spell by Sarvodaya bowlers Lalit Rana (3 for 19) and Rajesh Dua (2 for 19). Sarvodaya rushed to the traget in no time and made 136 runs without losing a wicket.

Achal Nath excels
Achal Nath clinched the trophy of the Ford Invitation Golf by scoring 42 stable points at Delhi Golf Club. The two runners-up were : Chetan Singh with score of 41 stable points and M S Nanda with 38 stable points.

St George's win
St George's School beat APS 45-36 in the junior boys final of Fr V C George memorial basketball tournament. Manoj (16) and gagandeep Ghai (10) were the main scorers for the winners while Sharon Singh (12) was the losing team's top scorer.

Special Olympics
The fourth edition of the Special Olympics National Games (SONG) will be held at Chandigarh this year between September 24 and 29. The SONG torch from Secunderabad, the venue of the last Games, is on its way to Chandigarh and will be received in Delhi on September 22. All national level particpants are requested to participate in the procession so that the handicapped children feel encouraged. The torch process begins at 7.30 a.m. from the Nehru Stadium in which about 200 students from Delhi schools will participate.

Kalpana shines
Kalpana of DTEA school (RK Puram) stole the thunder in the annual meet of the school claiming the sub-junior 100m title and the long jump crown. She also won a silver in the 200m and was part of the silver winning 4x100 m relay in both the senior and junior sections.

Other winners included Vasanthan, Dharmender in junior boys 1,500m and javeline respectively.

Shiksha in semis
Shiksha Bharati defeated Little Angels 12-0 to move into the semi-finals of the Delhi State Rugby championships here today. In other matches, SBV, Vijay Enclave, drew goalless with GBSS, Rajnagar, Kalgindhar Khalsa first downed Shivani Model Schol 5-0, then beat Army Public Schol 10-0. Shiksha Bharti also accounted for Raj Nagar school 6-0 while SBV beat Little Angels 7-5. In the girls section Shiv Vani drew 5-0 with Little Angels, Jin Vani downed Shiv Vani 10-5, SKV beat Shiv Vani 20-0 and Raj Nagar won over Jain Vani 15-0.
