Rampaging Aussies blaze a trail of glory
Australia won both the men's and women's gold medals at hockey's debut at the Commonwealth Games yesterday with comprehensive wins in both finals. The Australian men outclassed hosts Malaysia 4-0 while their all-conquering women added to their World and Olympic titles after routing England 6-1.

Golden treble eludes Rana
Poor cards on the last two rounds of the individual Air Pistol events' qualifying round yesterday cost Jaspal Rana his third gold medal at the Coomonwealth Games. But it still meant a great performance from the 22-year-old who won two gold and two silver as India finished with one of its best ever hauls of four gold, two silver and one bronze.

Jitender Kumar claims silver
India's medal tally in the Commonwealth Games swelled yesterday when middlewight boxer Jitender Kumar bagged the silver. In the final, Jitender was outclassed by England's John Pearce of England, losing 25-11 on points.
