Vadodara gears up for garba

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
Vadodara, Sept 21: The countdown has begun for the nine nights of love and romance among the young generation in the cultural city of Vadodara. Though the sentiment of the organisers was dampened briefly due to incessant rains last week, the dry spell on Sunday and bright sunrise this morning brought back smiles on their faces. Taking advantage of the sunshine the organisers deployed pumpsets to dry the grounds and sprinkled quarry dust to remove the last traces of rain water.

Most of the organisers of the garba have already made arrangements for viewers and players. But, they are still cautious about the downpour. The city's main garba organizers -- Aarki, United Aarki, two leading Gujarati newspapers -- Sandesh and Gujarat Samachar are also organising the garba. The Aarki which is organising four garbas in different places is charging about Rs 500 to Rs 700 for viewers and players.
