State champ Gauri enters semi-finals

MUMBAI, Sept 21: State sub-junior champion Gauri Narayan of RA Podar entered the semifinals of the Junior College Sports Association Inter-College Badminton Tournament held at the University Sports Pavilion today.

Girls Senior (u-16): 1 Pradnya Adhan, Shilpa Sawant (Balmohan), 3 Shweta Rao (St Xavier's, Nerul).
Junior (u-14): 1 Khushnuma Wadiwala (Bai Avabai F Petit), 2 Tasneem Federal (Bai Avabai F Petit), 3 Ketki Hardikar (IES English, Bandra).
Sunil nets winner: A goal by Sunil Pereira turned out to be the match-winner for Chemburites against Ultimate Warriors in the semi-finals of the eighth Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Parish football tournament at the OLPS ground, Chembur, yesterday.
In the other semi-final, Rock XI beat Cluster Sports Club6-1. Ashok Menon (2), R Chowgule, Randel Fernandes, Dolfred Pereira and Henry Fernandes were the scorers. Bhuvanesh netted Ultimate's consolation goal.Theresian tourney:

Sutarwar win: Two second-half strikes saw Sutarwar, Sahar beat Tata Electric, 2-0, in the MDFA Harwood League football tie at the St Xavier's ground, Parel today. Alban Almeida and Ivan D'Sa were the scorers.

Athletics selections: The selection trials to name the Bombay City District Amateur Athletic Association (BCDAAA) team will be conducted on Sept 25 & 26 from 7.30 a.m.onwards at Priyadarshini Park, Napean Sea Road. The team will take part at the ITC (junior) State Meet to be hld on Oct 2 & 3 at Pune. For details contact the BCDAAA office (Tel: 493 0193) on Sept 23 & 24.

Fatima on a high: The under-17 boys of Fatima High School, Ambarnath have qualified for the State level hockey tournament. This they achieved with a 1-0 win against Bhosle Military School, Nashik in the recently held Jawaharlal Nehru Cup hockey tournament (Divisional level). Off-late Fatima has been on a winning spree following victories in various district level tournament like Shaley and Bal Krida Spardha.
