Five injured in shootout between business rivals at Kailash Colony

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, September 21: A man was critically injured and four others recieved minor injuries in a shootout between business rivals at Kailash Colony in south Delhi this evening.

According to the police, the incident took place in the premises of Gulistan Exports at around 5.30 pm today. Two brothers Subhash and Rakesh Rastogi, the owners of an export house, and their employee Narendra Sisodia were present in the office at that time.

The police claims that five men got out of a Maruti Gypsy and barged into their office. Posing as custom officers, they asked the Rastogi brothers to show them their business papers. When they refused, a scuffle broke out and men from both the groups shot at each other. While Rakesh was shot in the face and shoulder, Subhash and Narendra were hit by pistol butts. Rakesh has been admitted to Apollo Hospital and his condition is stated to be serious.

According to the locals, two of the assailants, who fled the spot in an auto-rickshaw, also received injuries. While one of them was seen limping towards the auto, the other man was bleeding from his neck.

The police said that preliminary investigations point towards a business rivalry between the two groups, though no further details are available so far. The police added that Subhash has a licensed revolver.

The police have recovered four empty cartidges from the spot. All the PCR vans in the area have been alerted and the police is checking nearby nursing homes and hospitals, as they believe that the assailants would have gone there for treatment.

The local police has registered a case and is investigating the matter.
