PUNE, Sept 21: Maratha Mandal College of Commerce (MMCC) defeated S.P College 2-0 in the inaugural IME Inter-Collegiate invitational football tournament at the ILS Law College ground today.Both teams being well balanced dished out a good game of soccer. After a goalless first-half, MMCC went into the lead in the second-half through Abhishek. Abdul Aziz scored the second in the dying minutes, to make the issue safe.
In another encounter, Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) prevailed over Sinhagad Institute of Management (SIOM) via the sudden-death after being locked at two goals apiece in regular-time.
SIMS took the lead through Sandeep Desai in the 23rd minute, but their joy was short-lived as Zuber found the equaliser shortly.
Zuber put SIOM ahead with a fine goal, but Sandeep Desai restored parity via a penalty-kick awarded to SIMS. After a level-score in the tie-breaker, the sudden-death that ensued saw SIMS emerge victorious.
