VADODARA, Sept 22: Members of the Labour Law Practitioners' Association (LLPA) of Vadodara, who have been on an indefinite strike from September 7 demanding transfer of labour court's office superintendent and a clerk of the industrial court for their alleged misconduct, have threatened to intensify their agitation.Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, LLPA president Snehal Shah and general secretary of the Vadodara Kamdar Union Thakorbhai Shah alleged that the two had behaved rudely with staff members and advocates.
They alleged that the office superintendent, a close relative of Labour Minister Ashok Bhatt, had been transferred to Nadiad in December 1997 following complaints of ``misbehaviour'' but had managed to get posted at Vadodara again after the Bharatiya Janata Party returned to power in the state.
They said they had called on the labour minister as well as some other ministers in Gandhinagar recently to demand their transfer, but got only assurances.
The association is also demanding speedy collection of compensation, from companies, awarded to employees by various labour courts. Shah threatened that the association would lock up the labour court building, organise picketing of labour and industrial court judges and gherao the president of Industrial Court of Gujarat, besides submitting a memorandum to the District Collector if their demands were not met.
Stating that Godhra, Bharuch and Vadodara Bar associations had already held a one-day token strike in support of LLPA's demands, Shah claimed that the associations have also agreed to observe more strikes, f the issue was settled to their satisfaction.
