While the boys fought for goals, the contention was rather easy in the girls section where, in a one-sided match, SGNP School (Shahbad) pumped in a dozen goals, two of them coming through penalty corners, without getting any reply to rout Arya Kanya High School (Sonepat) and lift the winners trophy. Surinder Kaur's hat-trick was the only highlight of the dull and drab match.

Starting from the third minute with a field goal by Rajwinder Kaur, SGNP girls scored at will. Surinder Kaur's hat-trick came in the 50th, 56th and 59th minutes. She had also scored earlier in the 37th minute. Balwinder Kaur (5th), Minakshi (14th, 19th, 46th), Gurpreet Kaur (22nd), Simarjeet Kaur (33rd), and Kiran Saini (45th) were the other scorers for the winners.

In the boys section, with both teams equally matched, BRC and FA School fought hard in the first half. But a strong BRC defence and an alert FA goalkeeper Sanjeev prevented goals. BRC forwards failed badly at the target. In the 15th minute of the first half, in a move from right, Vijay Topno passed the ball to an unguarded Biraj whose weak attempt was cleared by a defender. Neeraj, who was standing close by, collected the ball but shot wide.

FA too had its share of misses. They wasted two penalty corners in a row in the 25th and 26th minutes which BRC boys failed to convert. With a list of misses and a barren scoreboard, both teams took the field with more determination after break.

The battle became more fierce as BRC pressed hard for a goal. Their effort paid in the 46th minute when Vijay found the target. This was followed by a protest from FAS, who felt that Vijay was off-side.

The goal jolted FAS and they came back with fresh attacks and four minutes later Joseph D' Souza equalised to force the match into the tie-breaker. Ironically, FAS who won the award for most penalty corner conversions, failed at the target in the tie-breaker as captain Inder, Wilson and Sunil missed their chances. Sadul was the only scorer for them.

Defending champions BRC, looking more confident, scored through Mansid and Gabriel while Alexuios missed. But by then the match was already decided in their favour.
