This essentially Korean martial art will be executed at the championships by Black Belt holders aged between 13 to 18 years. There will be six female and six male members in each team.

Leaving hosts India as an exeption, a country can be represented only one team.

Korea has been dominating the show in both the junior and senior levels followed by Canada, Argentina, Poland and Malaysia.

The first junior taekwon-do meet was held in Moscow in 1993, which saw the largest-ever participation of 53 countries and 600 players. The second was held in Poland in 1995 with 48 countries and 400 players. The third world juniors was held at Prague in 1996 with 52 countries and 490 exponents.

Organised by the taekwon-do association of India (ITF) events will be held in individual sparring, individual pattern, individual power breaking and individual special technique.

The team events will include team sparring, team pattern, team power breaking and team special technique.

Led by coach and Third Dan Narender Singh Rawat, the boys team includes Tushar Chandra (Delhi), Kamal Anand (J-K), Suhail Tariq (Delhi), Gurav Soni (Punjab), Kamal Gupta (Gujarat), V Lokesh (Delhi), Arun Narsimhan (Delhi), Tej Bahadur Gurung (Delhi) and Kishan Singh (Chandigarh).

The girls team includes Akshita Mehra, Amrita Mehra, Nivritti Chandra, Parul Choudhary and Shreya Sharma, all from Delhi.

Sonu knocks out Tomar
Sonu Pahalwan, a trainee of Captain Chand Roop, knocked out Rajiv Tomar of Guru Hanuman akhara in 18 minutes in a wrestling competition.

Earlier, Sonu and Arjuna Awardee Jagdish Bhola were engaged in a fierce draw after 40 minutes. Devendra and Pawan won tow bouts each.
