Anti-disco dandia drive picks up in Gujarat

RAJKOT, Sept 23: Junagadh MLA Mahendra Mashru is receiving the same good response to his campaign here against disco dandiya. After wrapping up his campaign in Junagadh, he arrived here and led a demonstration at Trikaun Baugh, kicking off signature and postcard campaigns. Gondal MLA Jayrajsinh Jadeja led merchants associations, trade unions, students, farmers and voluntary organisations to the site and backed him.Bharat Sadhu Samaj president Mahant Gopalanandji Maharaj, who had started the campaign in Junagadh, vowed to expand the campaign to the entire Saurashtra. . Mashru hopes the Vishwa Hindu Parishad will join the campaign which ``aims to revive and preserve the traditional prachin garba.'' Rajkot City Vali Mandal had organised the rally, which was joined by Amrit Charitable Trust Vaniavadi, Arpan Social Group, Vaishalinagar and many other prachin garba Mandals. Later, they submitted a memorandum to city police commissioner Sudhir Sinha who promised to take action, especially against those violating the deadline.
