PANAJI, SEPT 29: The Goa government today decided to set up an irrigation development corporation to complete the Tillari joint sector project on the northern border of Maharashtra and Goa.The project was lingering for over a decade for want of funds and clearance by the union ministry of environment and forests. Chief minister Wilfred D'Souza told reporters after a Cabinet meeting that the decision of the government to have a corporation was aimed at raising funds through the proposed corporation by borrowings and other financial means.
He said Goa still owes Rs 67 crore to the government of Maharastra, and will require an additional Rs 10 crore to complete the project.
Four northern talukas will benefit from this project.
