VADODARA, Sept 29: Gujarat Refinery created a new safety record by completing 40 lakh man-hours without accident.At a function held to celebrate the new milestone, senior factory inspector B P Parmar congratulated the Refinery for their safety performance. Safety should be in mind, not on papers, Parmar said.
In his address, Executive Director, P S Rao stressed the need for pro-active approach and commitment towards the plant's safety operations to further improve the safety programme. The Refinery has shifted LPG Bottling plant to a comparatively remote place and mounded bullets are being built for storage of LPG, Rao informed the gathering.
Deputy General Manager (Technical) in-charge B N Bankapur said the achievement was praiseworthy in light of complexity of Gujarat Refinery and number of projects under implementation.
C Anandrao, Chief Fire and Safety manager, while congratulating all the employees for their positive role in achieving the new safety record, called for united efforts to reach the mark of 100 lakh man-hours without any accident.
Among others, Kamala Das, Secretary, Officers' Association, M B Pandya, president, Gujarat Refinery Kamdar Sangh spoke on the occasion.
GARBA FESTIVAL: THE Garba festival is being held in the Refinery Township at the Gujarati Medium school. P S Rao, Executive Director lit the lamp and performed the puja to mark the beginning of the festival. Music and songs are being presented by `Shreejee Ras Vrund'.
Durga Puja: Sarbajaninum Durga Puja Samiti organised Durga puja from September 26 to October 1. Besides arti, cultural programmes were held in the evenings.
Dussehra Mela: The Dussehra Mela is being held at Refinery Nagar stadium. Ravan Dahan has also been organised on October 1.
Kavya Gosti: Rajasthan Brajbhasha, Jaipur and Gujarat Refinery will organise jointly a Kavya Gosthi, on October 3 at 7.30 pm in Tapti guest house.
