In the football final, SD School shot into the lead in the 23rd minute of the first half through Sandeep whose header went past goalkeeper Vijay. Twice Dinesh's close range shot went wide off the post and on the third occasion Kalarjit's weak shot was easily gripped by the rival keeper.
After the change of ends, DAV's repeated attacks bore fruit. A lapse in SD's defence cost them dearly when Ravinder beat the advancing keeper Praminder to make it 1-1.
DAV's second goal which proved to be a match winner came in the 20th minute of the second half when Harish shot on the rebound (2-1).
There was a keen competition in volleyball also. But Gaurav Chauhan, Vijay, Sunil Kumar and Ramesh Kumar played well for DAV-8 and enabled the team to emerge victorious.
Vajinder Singh, Ranjot and Varinder scored most of the points for Guru Nanak Senior Secondary School-30.
The volleyball contest in the girls section was, however, cancelled as only three teams reported at the venue.
