IMPHAL, SEPT 30: Leaders of the Kuki and Paite of Churachandpur district will sign the final peace agreement tomorrow, according to official sources.Manipur Chief Minister W Nipamacha Singh along with Deputy Chief Minister and other ministers will go to churachandpur to attend the peace accord signing celebration tomorrow morning. Later, the chief minister will address the people at a public meeting which will be held at the district playground.
The chief minister told newsmen here that the agreement would be able to solve the ethnic problems of the district once for all.
He said the Central government has sanctioned Rs 4.67 crore for construction of about 4000 houses to rehabilitate the victims of ethnic clash's. About 200 houses had already been constructed under the Indira Awas Jojna.
Meanwhile, 35 tribal houses were set afire by unidentified persons at Hawaibari under Teliamura police station of West Tripura district last night, police said.
Acting on a tip-off that exremists might attack theirhouses, inmates of the huts had abandoned their dwellings well before the arson, police said.
Six persons were arrested.
However, a large number of villagers today gheroed the Teliamura police station for several hours demanding release of the six arrested non tribals.
Patrolling by army and other paramilitary forces were intensified in the area.
